Checkerboard-Like Charge Ordering in Underdoped Cuprates
نویسنده
چکیده
Recent scanning tunneling microscopy measurements which indicate the formation of two-dimensional density modulations at some doping levels in cuprates were reviewed. A model of hard-core bosons which represent bound hole pairs in the two-dimensional doped antiferromagnet was discussed in the context of these experimental results. By means of an exact numerical diagonalization it was shown that the Coulomb repulsion between bosons brings about the formation of charge modulations.

Stripe ordering and two-gap model for underdoped cuprates
The evidence of edge-gaps around the M-points in the metallic state of underdoped cuprates has triggered a very active debate on their origin. We first consider the possibility that this spectroscopic feature results from a quasi-static charge ordering taking place in the underdoped regime. It comes out that to explain the coexistence of gaps and arcs on the Fermi surface the charge modulation ...
متن کاملTwo-component energy spectrum of cuprates in the pseudogap phase and its evolution with temperature and at charge ordering
In the search for mechanisms of high-temperature superconductivity it is critical to know the electronic spectrum in the pseudogap phase from which superconductivity evolves. The lack of angle-resolved photoemission data for every cuprate family precludes an agreement as to its structure, doping and temperature dependence and the role of charge ordering. Here we show that, in the entire Fermi-l...
متن کاملAspects of Spin - Charge Separation in high Tc Cuprates
High T, cuprates have a number of features that are anomalous from the point of view of the conventional theory of metals, i.e. the Fermi liquid theory. These include the high Tc itself, the linear resistivity in optimally doped cuprates, the "spin gap" phenomena, and antiferromagnetic fluctuations. Some of the basic features of the high T, phase diagram can be readily understood from slave bos...
متن کاملChiral symmetry breaking and violation of Wiedemann-Franz law in underdoped cuprates
We propose that the recently observed violation of theWiedemannFranz law in the normal state of underdoped cuprates is caused by spin-charge separation and dynamical chiral symmetry breaking, within a (2+1)-dimensional effective model with massless Dirac fermions, bosons and a U(1) gauge field. While the spinon gap vanishes at the Fermi points, at low temperatures no mobile fermionic excitation...
متن کاملGenesis of charge orders in high temperature superconductors
One of the most puzzling facts about cuprate high-temperature superconductors in the lightly doped regime is the coexistence of uniform superconductivity and/or antiferromagnetism with many low-energy charge-ordered states in a unidirectional charge density wave or a bidirectional checkerboard structure. Recent experiments have discovered that these charge density waves exhibit different symmet...
